Sometimes I wonder if there’s really a point in me writing reviews of the things that I’ve watched, played, or read. Mostly, I wouldn’t say that I’m a “critic” because I don’t think I’m really qualified. I’m not evaluating anything based on any technical or artistic expertise. I’m just a nobody on the internet with opinions based on some random confluence of life experiences. Certainly, I know when I don’t like something, but in most cases I don’t even finish those particular works. When something really resonates with me, I just want to share my love and excitement.
Sometimes, blogging feels like a record of my emotions and proof that I existed.
As someone who once loved to create fanworks, it feels wrong not to create something new. I want to be creative, but right now my energy and motivation is only enough for this crude fandom activity. At best, its a signal boost for the original work that exists.
Oh well. Life is too short to lament my current abilities. I’ve really been enjoying seeing my daily or weekly efforts stack up, and its a nice reminder of my thoughts when I’m discussing a particular work with someone else.
When I first started writing “reviews”, there were several books & games where I didn’t write anything even though I finished the work, just because I felt I didn’t have anything interesting to say. I wish I had written something anyways back then.
(P.S. I’m just trying something different by handwriting this post. Handwritten on a Boox tablet, lightly edited for posting).
