Happy 801 Day! - NaviBlog

In honor of 801 (yaoi) day, I wanted to list some of my favorite BL series! The series below are in no particular order and range from sweet(🍦) to spicy (🌶️)! Some have got official releases, but unfortunately many will have to be read through fanTLs.

10 Dance 🌶️#

The series features 2 professional dancers who are experts in two different styles(?) of dance, standard and latin. They initially agree to teach each other their specialty, and they begin to grow closer as they spend more time together. Their romantic and physical entanglements are fun to watch, and the series is also interesting due to it’s focus on dance as a sport. This even got a netflix movie! I love this series dearly, and hope more people discover it.

The Honest Life of a Game Studio | Game-ya BL | ゲーム屋BL🍦#

The main couple is a game director and office employee at a game studio. It’s fascinating because the author clearly worked in the game industry themselves, and it has all sorts of fun references to real games. The main couple is also adorable, as they have a bit of an age gap and have to work around that in some ways. Very cute, highly recommended!

Heaven and Demon 🌶️🌶️#

This series features two men who work at a school, one as a teacher and the other as the school nurse. Their sensibilities are quite opposite one-another, and it also features a bit of BDSM play. I also like the art style, since it’s a bit different and not afraid to show a man with some aged features. The emotional beats are also quite good.

The Younger Boss Wants to be Praised | Toshishita Joushi wa Homeraretai | 年下上司は褒められたい 🍦#

This series is one of my all-time favorites and it’s hard to articulate why. It’s office BL, and it deals with a man who has some trauma from a previous workplace. It’s very sweet and heartwrenching, and I just wanted the main character to be happy. The facial expressions and body language is just depicted so well here, and it’s so satisfying to see this couple’s relationship develop. Really sweet and has a spicy (🌶️🌶️🌶️) doujin!

It Can’t Be Mutual Love!! | Ryouomoi Nante Joudan ja Nai!! | 両想いなんて冗談じゃない!! 🌶️#

Lovely story about two older who have been best friends for a long time finding love. It’s funny and heartwarming! This series had me cackling, as it’s quite real at times about concerns an older couple might have. I also appreciate the author’s art style!

Manly Appetites: Minegishi Loves Otsu 🍦#

Ridiculously cute story about two men who work together, where one of them has a super obvious crush on the other one. The main character is overweight, but that doesn’t stop the male lead from spoiling him anyways. Really adorable series, and it’s so sweet that it had rolling! I loved seeing a main character that didn’t fit the “BL” mold for a perfect MC, but was still confident as himself anyways.

Super Darling is Dead | スパダリ is DEAD 🌶️#

An “elite” man is down on his luck and swindled out of money, and in desperation he reaches out to a gay sharehouse owner that he met earlier at a bar. As a condition of helping the man, the owner requests that the other man pretend to be his boyfriend! It’s the fake-dating-turned-real trope, and these two are fun to watch.

The Titan’s Bride 🌶️🌶️🌶️#

An isekai romantasy about a young man who ends up summoned to a new world by a titan to be his bride. There’s quite a bit of plot and fantasy politics included, but let’s be real we’re all here for the couple’s hot and intimate moments, and the insane size difference. I’m happy that the english release is uncensored, as the art is truly something to behold lol. It’s a decently long running series, and I’m curious to see where the story goes next!
